Mila about her artworks:
My work articulates the contents of the subconscious mind, using the mechanisms of the pre-language symbolic thinking. It reflects my deep interest in dreams, mythology, tales and fables and touches the notions of cultural identity. It is also language that stands in the foreground of my interest, as a framework determining the structure of our inner mind and therefore our perception of reality.
There is a connection between my work and that of Surrealists, especially in their search for the miraculous in everyday things and situations, together with their nourishment of analogical thinking.
My work has become a tool for me to narrate my life experience in parables; a mirror reflecting my personal mythology. I am opening a gate for the viewer to enter the worlds which I create in my mind, while encouraging projection of one's own interpretations and dreams onto the ambiguous images that I invent.
